When it is time for your procedure, the nurse will
wheel you into the procedure room. You will be lying
on a stretcher bed, so you don’t even have to walk.
In the procedure room you will meet your doctor, and
have some simple monitors placed in your arm, finger,
and sometimes chest. You will also receive some oxygen
through a little tube placed under your nose. After
speaking with the doctor you receive medication in your
IV which will make you very relaxed and comfortably sleepy.
Your procedure will then be done. Most procedures take from
5 to 20 minutes, depending on the initial goals and findings
at the time of the test. After your procedure you will be
returned to your bay to gently awaken and prepare to go home.
